Description Pascal Berger 2007-04-14 01:35:10 UTC
My problem is that I've quite a big music library (or a too slow pc for running the slimserver ;-) and a full rescan of the music library takes about 6 hours. I also use the CustomScan plugin which also takes several hours for doing additional scan tasks.
Unfortunately it's only possible to execute the automatic rescan job daily. If I do this it will result in my case in the server doing nothing else than endless rescanning. Therefore I changed the rescanning to "New and changed files only". But this doesn't reflect any corrections done in the ID3 Tags of existing files.

For suiting my needs the best I would suggest to add the possibility to define several rescan jobs. For example:

- Each day on 03:00 Scan new and changed files only
- Each Sunday on 03:00 do a full rescan

Thanks in advance
Pascal

on linux, the possibility already exists using scanner.pl and cron.
windows users would have to use scanner.exe

It would be nice though if this would be available through the web interface since I use a NAS as server and don't want to hack into the system.

Try if this bug still shows with v7.6

Unassigned bugs cannot have a priority.

Scanning performance has improved since adding this bug (and also NAS are more powerful than back then). I'm closing this issue therefore.
