Description tomer maoz 2007-04-11 15:59:00 UTC
Customer reports that his SB1 does not connect to his new AirPort extreme router using the WEP encryption.

I try to connect our SB1 to the same airport model using the WEP encryption and it's failing to connect. The new Airport works fine with SB2 and 3

Do we have a way to fix this issue?

The original squeezebox uses 802.11b and only supports 64 bit and 128 bit Shared-key WEP.

To allow an original squeezebox to connect to an AirPort Extreme 802.11n with WEP security you must enable some hidden options.

To do this run AirPort Utility and log into your AirPort Extreme 802.11n and choose Manual Setup. Navigate to AirPort settings and then the Wireless tab. Now while holding down the option or alt key on the keyboard click the Radio Mode selector and select 802.11b only or 802.11b/g compatible. If you do not hold down the option or alt key you will not see these options. Under Wireless Security you will now be able to select WEP 40 bit, also known as WEP 64 bit, or WEP 128 bit.
