Description Daryl Barber 2007-03-30 00:31:18 UTC
Since updating to FW76 Wake on Lan has stopped working for me. The message 'Waking Slimserver' no longer appears when pressing the SB3 power button so I'd guess it's in the firmware.

I've checked WOL yesterday on an SB3 with FW76 and FW80 and it worked. The only thing I noticed is that I had to wait until the display goes blank before pressing the power button. Then the message 'Waking Slimserver' showed, followed by 'Connecting to Slimserver' and my iBook got out of sleep. I tried with dynamic and static IP address, SB3 wired and wireless. (The iBook was wired and connected to power outlet.)
Have you tried to update the same firmware again by pressing and holding 'Brightness'?
Also I think it only works if your server and SB3 are in the same subnet.

I'll take a look at this a little later.

I've tried firmware 76 and 64, both wake Anoop's pc successfully (BTW thanks Anoop for letting me use your computer, mine is wireless). In other words I'm not able to reproduce this. I would encourage the reporter to please try downgrading to 6.5.0 (http://www.slimdevices.com/downloads/SlimServer_v6.5.0/) this will downgrade your players firmware to version 64. Then test and see if WOL works, if it does, please download SlimServer 6.5.2 (http://www.slimdevices.com/downloads/nightly/latest/6.5/), this will upgrade the players firmware back to 76 for one final test to verify. Let us know your findings. This should help us to make certain that a change between these versions of the software is what is causing this problem.

I installed 6.5.0 on my laptop (there was no way I was messing with my beautifully tweaked and setup 6.5.2 on my main PC) and directed my SB3 towards that. It connected fine, downgraded to FW64 and rebooted.
However - it lost all its wireless settings on reboot (a shock to me) so I had to input everything again - which would have been easy if I could remember my wireless password).
So, I inserted a new password into my Access Point (plus all my other wireless equipment) and the SB3 duly connected to SS v6.5.0 on the laptop.
When I then stopped slimserver, the 'waking slimserver' message was back (and not just on a reboot like before).
I then pointed my SB3 back towards my main PC with 6.5.2 on it and after updating to FW80 (which I've been running for a few days now) it connected easily.
'Waking Slimserver' seems to have been restored! :)
