Bugzilla – Bug 4877
Shorten files option in Slimserver not needed any more
Last modified: 2009-09-08 09:16:56 UTC
I was talking to a customer that wanted to play Shorten files on is Squeezebox and he didn’t understand why there is an option under the server settings / File types for transcoding Shorten format if we do now support it. We should remove this option from the interface in Slimserver if it's not supported format.
Dean your thoughts?
Adding Kevin to CC, KP your input?
I believe it does work, but you need to have shorten installed in a way that slimserver can access it. We can remove it from the configuration file or we can document this. How big of an issue is it?
Lowering the priority. This is not a big issue, but I see no reason for us to continue on the fence. Kevin, are we currently supporting shorten or no?
I didn't get the e-mail for some reason. Anyway, no, it's not supported, it's too broken on too many platforms.
Can we remove the 3 Shorten entries in the File Types screen and scour the docs, then?
How about just commenting out the Shorten lines in convert.conf that ships with SlimServer?
Created attachment 2127 [details] remove shorten support full removal of support, in types, convert and Formats sections.
if there is a final ruling, I'll merge.
Yes, please take it out.
merged to trunk at change 12843, please reopen if there are issues.
