Description Michel 2007-03-23 22:01:07 UTC
This is a suggestion...
My SB is set-up for automatic update.

Problem:

Whitout having the remote control it's impossible to complete the firmware update (holding brightness}.

Suggestion:

Adding a selection in Slimserver or adding a delay in the SB firmware must enable the firmware update in other word you must be able to update the firmware whitout using the remote.

PS I rent a SB remote to a Hi-Fi store to be able to update my firmware, I order a new remote...to finally find out my old remote in melting snow in front of my house...I guess we clea-up the table too fast :-)

Keep your excellent works !

has anyone done anything with this? is anyone going to?

my remote is VERY flakey and i'm worried that at some point i will be screwed by this if my remote flakes out.

if its already an option, please tell me how to set it and lets close this bug. if not, i think it should get some priority as i doubt i am the only one with a possible remote problem.

btw, i assume this applies to all SB's, yes?

i should add that my SB2 does now do this automatically and i guess its an option somewhere.

might be an idea to have the SBC have the ability to do this however, (if thats possible).

Hi Michel,

Since you selected Squeezebox 1, this bug was not a high priority. It appears from your description that you really have an SB2 or SB3, so I will proceed on that assumption.

See http://mwiki.slimdevices.com/index.php/HardwareComparison for more info.

We have a support team for questions about how the product and settings operate that provides better response than the QA team, which tries to concern itself with problems with the product that need fixing. Their contact information is available at http://www.slimdevices.com/su_tech.html

On the SB2 and 3, there is an option in the player firmware settings to enable automatic firmware updates. This option is always enabled on the new Squeezebox Receiver product.

* Hold down the left button on the remote until it returns to the Squeezebox Setup screen (about 10 seconds)

* Scroll down to 'Current Settings', press right.

* Scroll down to 'Auto upgrade' (near the bottom of the list), press right.
