Description Nikiforos Papasikas 2007-03-13 02:23:40 UTC
Background: I have successfully for quite a while been streaming from my slimserver at home to the computer at work. But recently I've added albums (and rescanned).

When I try to play the new albums (press the play button for the whole album on the slimserver UI, left pane) the last song on the album is always selected (bold font in the right pane). STOP is defaulted and nothing happens when I press PLAY.

Nothing else is wrong when I try this, I can easily go to other albums and play songs. This only happens with newly added albums.

See attachements with screendumps: Two cases, one when it's playing, one when it's not playing.

Have you tried this against SlimServer 6.5.1? Have you ever tried the clear and rescan function from server settings?
Comment 4 Ross Levine 2007-03-13 12:04:10 UTC
Also, has anything changed with your ripping / encoding process? Could you enable d_source and attach a log after rescanning?
Comment 5 Nikiforos Papasikas 2007-03-14 01:33:28 UTC
I had tried a rescan only prior to reporting. Now I have tried a cleanup + rescan and the problem remains. But note that the problem appears only when I try to play with Windows Media player remotely (but again only for new albums). When playing with my home Squeezebox or SoftSqueeze 3.0 at home it works well.

I will soon try SoftSquueze 3.0 from work and withing the next day I will be able to upgrade to 6.5.1

I have been using EAC and converted to .flac both prior and after the problem occured.

Now, I have installed 6.5.1 and done a clean-rescan with d_source enabled. This is the log:

d_source should be showing a lot more than that, including timestamps and command construction. Is that really all that you are getting? Can you double check that d_source is enabled.

Alternatively, please stop the server and open a command prompt to run:
c:\program files\slimserver\server\slim.exe --d_source --logfile c:\bug4826log.txt

you can then attach the bug4826log.txt file to this report.

I'm seeing some parts of the log showing flac tracks as unable to stream because they cannot be converted to mp3.

It appears that the required LAME binary is missing. Could you make sure you have LAME.EXE installed and located somewhere in the system path, either c:\windows or c:\program files\slimserver\bin
Comment 10 Nikiforos Papasikas 2007-03-16 00:32:15 UTC
I will try that. But it's strange because I have other flac files that are played alright.
Comment 11 Nikiforos Papasikas 2007-03-28 01:19:23 UTC
LAME.exe was placed in both c:\windows and ~slimserver\bin and that helped. It now works well for me. Thanks.
