System Info: Dell Optiplex GX620 Vista SP0 ENU Steps to Reproduce: 1. On a clean ghost of Vista SP0 ENU, install SlimServer 7.0a1, build 2007-03-06. 2. After the installation, notice the SlimTray icon is not on the TaskBar. Note: SlimTray.exe had been xopied to the proper place. --TESTCASE-- Check existence of C:\Program Files\SlimServer\SlimTray.exe. --PASS-- C:\Program Files\SlimServer\SlimTray.exe exists.
I've heard Dan mention he heard this from some Vista customers. I just tried this on the Vista 64 QA machine and I wasn't able to reproduce.
Wallace, 20070307: This is an intermittent bug. Retested 4 times with the same build from yesterday. Unable to reproduce. Used the same PC too.
Kevin, could you tell your guys to keep an eye out for more information on these cases? If a customer is particularly motivated, an msconfig dump might be useful. Assuming Vista even still has msconfig. Ross, could you have a look?
Yes Vista still has msconfig. Support: Start -> Search: msconfig, then the Tools tab, click System Information from the left, then launch towards the bottom right, then file -> export. Let me know if there is anything else I can do to help. I still haven't seen this error on Vista.
Could this have anything to do with bug 4685?
wallace, 20070322: Have been checking this everyday. Have not seen it for at least a week. Will continue to keep an eye on it.
Seems to no longer be an issue. If anyone sees this again please feel free to re-open.
Re-opened, then mark it as WORKSFORME. The bug was valid. It is not reproducible any more.
Closing. Will re-open if seen again.
