Description tomer maoz 2007-03-06 12:32:41 UTC
Customer connecting the transporter to an emm labs dcc2 se. The dcc2 can provide a word clock output via a bnc cable. When he connects the transporter to the dcc2 using the dcc2 as the master clock he gets occasional popping noises during music playback. he tries to use the coax, toslink and aes/ebu connections. All exhibit this behavior. It seems to be the worst when he uses the aes/ebu. It works fine when using the transporter as the clock. In addition, when he uses the emmlabs transport to play cds using the dac as the master clock he does not hear it.

If I tell the
slimserver to convert the flac files to wav at the
server, the popping seems to go away.

Felix, is this still an issue?

Assigning to sean, he's been following the thread.

Sean: is there something to fix here for 7.0? Or is this just a support issue?

Comment 5 Sean Adams 2007-12-27 11:58:58 UTC
Occasional pops when using word clock means that the word clock is not working _at all_, i.e. the devices are out of sync. May be a problem with cabling or the setting on the DAC. We would probably need to get a dcc2 in-house to diagnose.
Comment 6 Blackketter Dean 2007-12-27 13:26:03 UTC
Why would switching to server side flac affect this?
Comment 7 Sean Adams 2008-01-31 16:48:30 UTC
Fixed in trunk 17060 / firmware 40.
Comment 8 James Richardson 2008-04-29 11:28:38 UTC
Changing fixed target to 7.1 as FW 40 will be released then, not in 7.0.1
