Description Joe Buccino 2004-08-05 12:41:16 UTC
Suggestion: I am always shifting between "Shuffle by song" and "Don't shuffle". I find that when I want
to play an entire album I don't want to shuffle but when I play a playlist I always prefer to shuffle. Is
there any way that you could add a shuffle setting for each mode so that I wouldn't have to switch all
the time?

to which 'modes' do you refer? if you mean albums vs playlist, that might be
tricky. The server doesn't have any way to distinguish between the two. its
always playing from a playlist. To add an item to the playlist file itself
might be possible, so long as it will not break the m3u or pls for other
applications that use that format. perhaps as a comment.

I assumed that playing an album was a different mode than playing a playlist. I always want playlists
shuffled (by song) but I usually want to play albums in their natural order. It would be convenient if I
didn't have to remember which shuffle mode I was last in and avoid having to toggle through them.

An idea from Nalle Johansson on the discuss-list might help here.
He suggested a simple line in the playlist with
options to set when playing that playlist.
ie:
:slimsettings:volume=32;bass=4;treble=0;shuffle=on;

An option when you save a playlist to "Save current play settings"
to save the current volume/bass/treble/shuffle/repeat.

But maybe this is for a new "bug"?!

I do the same thing, but rather than with playlists, I usually browse by
folder, which at the top level are divided into subfolders for my music, my
wife's music, and my kids' music. So I'll pick my music, turn on shuffle, and
play my whole collection. I agree it would be nice for slim to assume I want
that shuffled, but when I play an album, not to shuffle.

Dean doesn't work here any more :)

Unassigned bugs cannot have a priority.
