Description Jean-Charles Andlauer 2007-02-20 12:08:24 UTC
Hello,

I bought a SqueezeBox essentially for listening to online radio stations. Unfortunately SlimServer does not seem able to handle playlists including radio stations.

I first tried adding radio stations through iTunes. A scan from scratch finds the radio stations, but they disappear after a while. This seems to be a known bug that will not be corrected until SlimServer version 7.0.

Then I tried to create a M3U playlist file for my radio stations. Here again, SlimServer initially picks all radio stations, but some disappear after a while (SlimServer does not display them, but they are still present in the playlist file). Like this one for example:

#EXTINF:-1,AVRO Klassiek Baroque
http://shoutcast.omroep.nl:8068/

Could you please provide me a way to create a *persistent* list of radio stations, preferably from iTunes, but I am ready to input the URL and the station name in a file myself.

Thank you for your support, and regards,

Jean-Charles Andlauer

see bug 4092 as far as the current situation where a playlist has more than one radio station.

for now, there is the MyPicks plugin, found on the wiki:

and wikiradio:

Hello,

Thank you for the update, although I find it quite disapointing.

I will temporarily apply one of the proposed workarounds until SlimServer is able to pick up radio playlists from iTunes. But I do not intend to permanently maintain third party plugins, or tens of radio playlists each including a single URL, on top of SlimServer and iTunes.

I will therefore consider this problem fixed when SlimServer is able to pick up radio playlists from iTunes, as advertized on the Slim Devices web site (see http://www.slimdevices.com/pi_features.html, "Use iTunes to add and manage music files and your library automatically available to SlimServer—no more rescan! SlimServer also streams iTunes' powerful Smart Playlists").

When is a fix expected?

Thank you for support, and regards,

Jean-Charles Andlauer

As noted in bug 4092, the multiple radio stations in a single playlist is something that will tried for 7.0.

I'll leave this for QA to decide whether to combine with that bug 4092, or if there is sufficient reason to keep it distinct.

I'll keep it as a separate bug as a reminder to test this specific case after bug 4092 gets fixed, thanks KDF.

Can't test this one until bug 4092 gets fixed, and it's targeted for 7.0.

4092 is moved to 7.0.1
Comment 7 Chris Owens 2008-06-04 10:38:36 UTC
QA to try testing this again now that 4092 is fixed

This is a reminder that this bug is to QA for 7.1. Please review these bugs!
Comment 9 Chris Owens 2008-06-19 10:58:55 UTC
Please test this for the 7.2 release

Hi Jean-Charles,

I was not moving the fixing of this bug, but the testing of it. The bug appears to be fixed, although I'm not sure for how long, since it was fixed as a 'side effect' of some other patches.

The bug where multiple Internet radio stations could not be added to a build was fixed in 7.0.1 which has been out for a few months, so you should be able to create an M3U file of your stations if that's good enough.

We're currently working on the 7.1 release, which will be out in a few more weeks. In 7.1, there is also a 'My Radio Stations' link under 'Internet Radio' where users can store radio stations with a friendlier GUI.

But with regards to this specific bug, which I consider is specifically about importing iTunes radio stations, it appears to be working fine in the 7.1 build.

If you are still having a problem with this function after the 7.1 release, or after trying the 7.1 beta at http://www.slimdevices.com/downloads/nightly/latest/7.1/, please be specific about the remaining issues, and we'll have a look for 7.2, which will be released in a couple of months.

I hope this makes you more satisfied with your Sqeezebox.

Best regards,

Christopher Owens

This bug has now been fixed in the 7.1 release version of SqueezeCenter! Please download the new version from http://www.slimdevices.com if you haven't already.

If you are still experiencing this problem, feel free to reopen the bug with your new comments and we'll have another look.
