Description Lewis Tsalis 2007-02-14 07:21:08 UTC
Pressing the >> (Next) button on the remote while a song is playing skips to the next track but the display still shows the previous song. The display should update to show the current track playing.

Anyone able to reproduce this? Issues like this have cropped up in the past, all known cases should have been fixed a while ago.

suspect that it is not firmware, however.

I've got a Mac coming next week, I'll take a look at this when it arrives.

I don't think this is platform specific. The issue is with the SB3. It just doesn't update the display to show the song selected with the >> (FWD) button. i.e., Play the first song of an album. Press the >> button on the remote and it skips to track 2 but the display still shows track 1's info. Press the >> button again to skip to track 3 and it still shows track 1.

I played around with the SB3 today and it seems the only way to get it to display the current song info is to press the Now Playing button on the remote. It won't automatically update the display for each new song.

If you press play while browsing, it will start playing but will still show your browse location. If you press "next" then the song moves to the next, but still shows where you are browsing. Once you press "now playing" then you are showing the current song mode. Once you have this, it should keep showing the current song even if you press next. Also, if you set the "while playing" screensaver to "now playing" then after the screensaver timeout, the player will show the current song. Until either the screensaver timeout or pressing now playing, your player will remain in browse mode and show the track/album/artist you were browsing in case you want to add more to your current playlist. Might this be the case here? I've certainly never seen the player fall behind recently once it's showing the current song with the proper "now playing" player display.

Thanks KDF for the clear description. Lewis could it just be our UI creating some confusion?

I guess it's possible. Are you sure it's not a bug : )

I just have to get into the habbit of pressing the Now Playing button every now and then. It would be nice if worked like every other audio device ie., hit the >> button and it jumps to the next track and updates the display. Anyway, consider it a feature request.

Thanks.

You could try changing the screensaver timeout in Slimserver -> Player Settings -> Basic Settings, about 3/4 of the way down the page, under 'Screensavers'. The default is 30; try 15.

Thanks for making it clear the the SB has two modes, Browsing and Now Playing. I wasn't aware of that. It seems like odd behaviour to me. Anyway, It would be nice if I could set it to always operate from the Now Playing mode.

I should have mentioned this before, I don't use/like the Now Playing screensaver. And yes, I have it alreay set at 15 but with the Spectrum Analyzer (it's so cool).

Marking this as invalid.
