Description Chris Owens 2007-01-29 16:04:33 UTC
Some forum members are reporting using Rhapsody causes a Squeezebox crash which requires unplugging and reconnecting the power to recover from.
Comment 1 Ron Olsen 2007-01-29 17:50:22 UTC
Rhapsody through SqueezeNetwork can also cause the Transporter (with firmware version 27) to lock up and become unresponsive to the remote. The only solution is to pull the power cord and reboot. This has happened more than once during playback of a song in the middle of a playlist. I was doing nothing with the Transporter or Rhapsody/SqueezeNetwork at the time of the incidents.

Other instabilities in the Rhapsody/SqueezeNetwork/Transporter interface also exist:
see http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=32019 and http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=32205 for details.

I can reproduce the issue on my end pretty reliably within an hour of Rhapsody playback (cf. support incident Incident: 070130-001289).

I am using WPA2-AES wireless encryption, could that make a difference? The network is a linksys router connected to Comcast.

Are there any ways to enable diagnostic output on the Squeezebox? Or anything to look for in the data stream?

Just purchased a squeezebox. I'm using a wireless connection to a linksys router. The player will suddenly stop playing while connected to rhapsody through the squeezenetwork. I also have a roku soundbridge and do not have the same problem with it. This is a deal killer for purchasing a squeezebox. I have had a rhapsody subscription for a couple of years. I would even go as far as saying this is fraud. You can't advertise a product (squeezebox) with a service (rhapsody) when it doesn't work. If this can't be fixed asap then stop lying on your website...

Richard, this is not 100%% reproducible, but Steven and I have seen it a few times, especially while listening to Rhapsody 'Channels'. It tends to happen (for us) by just navigating to Squeezenetwork -> Rhapsody -> Channels -> All Channels, then select and play it. If it's going to happen, it typically happens within half an hour or so.

If other users have information that we could use to reproduce this issue more reliably, we would love to hear it.

If it happens with 100%% regularity for you, I'd be interested in learning which of our products (SB2 or SB3 or Transporter) and what kind of connection (wired or wireless, and what wireless security type) you are using.

A bug related to Rhapsody Channels has been fixed in firmware 75. It is currently undergoing internal testing. You will be notified again when it is made part of a nightly release.

This might not be the only bug related to Rhapsody, investigations are continuing.

Rhapsody fixes where included in Squeezebox fw 76 / Transporter fw 29. As far as I know the firmware is now stable playing Rhapsody.

Fixed in 6.5.2, which is now released and available for download at http://www.slimdevices.com/su_downloads.html
