Description Gaspar Barna 2007-01-26 13:13:06 UTC
I use whole album flac files with embedded cuesheet. In a night release of 6.5.1 I observed, there is a strange unwanted signal when music is go to a track boundary. It is a little anomaly, especially well recognised in a Cosi fan tutte CD between track 4 and 5. I couldn't find how did I make a mistake, finally I changed back to the official 6.5.0 release, The unchanged flac file was played perfectly.

When I downloaded official 6.5.1, the firs test was the Cosi, and the problem returned. I use wired network, no DNS server, fix IP addresses, Windows XP SP2 and SB3.

Please help me. If you need diag material, I'll try to cut a short part from Cosi, because the complete flac is too big to attach.

Thanks for the help in advance,
Gaspar

I can confirm this bug with my own SlimServer(6.5.1)/SB3 setup. I'm using EAC to rip to a single FLAC image with a CUE sheet. I'm pretty sure it's not the files that are at fault:

- The FLAC file is properly continuous and gapless (I can tell this if I open it in an editor such as Goldwave and play the section corresponding to these tracks)

- The CUE sheet opens the FLAC file and plays it perfectly in Foobar.

Further tests that I've carried out:
1) Ripped the offending tracks directly to WAV files, using a different ripper (Easy CD Digital Audio Extractor - EZCDDAX). The SB3 plays them back perfectly.
2) Repeated test 1, but ripped to FLAC. Same result - perfect gapless playback.
3) Repeated test 1, but ripped to OGG. Same result - perfect gapless playback.

So, the problem seems to be with either the CUE sheet itself, or slimserver's handling of the CUE sheet. So the next test was designed to isolate the problem further.
4) Used EZCDDAX to convert the original EAC FLAC CD image to individual WAV files, using the EAC CUE sheet to define the splits. Result - the SB3 plays back the resulting WAV files perfectly.

The clincher was to follow the OP's advice and downgrade to 6.5.0 - now the FLAC image plays perfectly.

So I guess that one of the fixes in 6.5.1 must have introduced this problem.
