Description Ross Levine 2007-01-22 18:46:25 UTC
"The correct Norwegian spelling for the weekday Monday is "mandag", not mndag as my squeezebox currently says, when attached to Squeezenetwork."

From a customer.
Comment 1 Andy Grundman 2007-01-22 19:10:58 UTC
The translation comes from DateTime::Locale which uses data from CLDR (http://unicode.org/cldr/).

Quote:

Please be aware that all locale data has been generated from the CLDR (Common Locale Data Repository) project locales data). The data is currently incomplete, and will contain errors in some locales.

When reporting errors in data, please check the primary data sources first, then where necessary report errors directly to the primary source via the CLDR bug report system. See http://unicode.org/cldr/filing_bug_reports.html for details.

Once these errors have been confirmed, please forward the error report and corrections to the DateTime mailing list, datetime@perl.org.

Today, I noticed that it says "Tysdag", which made me realise what has happened:

In Norway, there are two written languages. The locales are nb_NO ("bokml") and nn_NO ("nynorsk").

You have apparently selected nn_NO, which has the before mentioned spellings of weekdays.

As there are many more users of nb_NO than nn_NO, it is common to use nb_NO as the default Norwegian locale. In fact, no_NO is supposed to be an alias for nb_NO.

Ah good one, very strange. :) Which locale are the NO translations in SlimServer based on?
Comment 4 Åsmund Hjulstad 2007-01-23 12:32:34 UTC
The translations are incomplete. Those that exist are in bokml (nb_NO).

Andy, wasn't there a plan at one time to make the strings.txt file editable more easily by end users?
Comment 7 Andy Grundman 2007-02-14 11:10:11 UTC
This isn't a strings.txt issue, these translations come from the OS.
Comment 8 Andy Grundman 2007-02-14 11:33:05 UTC
Fixed, will take effect on SN within 2 hours.
