FLAC-encoded files do not play on 6.5.1 and the SLIMP3.  The server says my LAME encoder appears to be correctly installed.  MP3 encoded files work fine. THere is other odd behavior: when I start a playlist consisting of FLAC-encoded files, the player jumps sporadically from file to file (without any audio actually playing).

This is the critical bit:

This would indicate that the conversion is failed for an reason unknown to slimserver.  In order to see what the flac/lame programs are doing you'll need to stop the server and open a command prompt.  then run:

"c:\program files\slimserver\server\slim.exe" --d_source

This should then let the decoder errors dump to the command prompt window.  for some clarity, you could even leave off the  d_source this time, as we already know what that will look like.

Steven, could you have a look at reproducing this?  As in many cases I'm not asking because I don't think it's happening, but because I want to learn more about the bug.  In this particular case, is playing FLAC on a SliMP3 a good test for this bug?

As KDF has pointed out in some other bugs, this symptom is probably tied to some other bugs.  (bug 4742 bug 4698, bug 4318)

NOD32 was my problem. Uninstalled and everything is working fine now. Will reinstall nod and do some testing when i can. I did add the whole slimserver folder to the exclusion list in nod before i uninstalled and it still did not work. I noticed in the task manager that everytime socketwrapper popped up it would disappear right away. now that nod is gone it loads and flac is running too.

I expect this to be fixed with the new socketwrapper in change 12002.  Please check and see whether the latest nightly resolves this if you still have the security software installed.

Marking as fixed for the release of 6.5.2 as these issues are believed to be corrected with the updates to socketwrapper included with 6.5.2.  

Please feel free to re-open if there are any continuing issues, or new symptoms we may need to investigate.
