Bugzilla – Bug 4650
Sometimes double clicking SlimServer desktop icon brings up error page from Microsoft.
Last modified: 2008-12-18 11:12:12 UTC
Note: Browser used is IE version 7.0.5730.11. Isolated Steps: 1. On an XP SP2 ENU system with IE 7, install SlimServer_6.5_v2007-01-05.exe. 2. Connect Squeeze box and play a few songs. 3. Stop SlimServer. 4. Double click the SlimServer icon on the desktop to start it again. 5. Notice sometimes a generic Microsoft connection error page pops up instead of the SlimServer GUI page. (this may be a timing issue. The tooltips still said "Starting SlimServer" when this happened.) Work Around: Wait until SlimServer has fully started. Type "http://localhost:9000/" on IE7's address field and press Enter. Refresh button does not bring up the SlimServer page.

Please try the latest nightly build as instructed on the main bugzilla page. The recent builds should be properly waiting until http server is fully running.
Wallace, 20070110: Tried today's build. Bug as written is still seen intermittently.
So, my guess is that Slimserver is taking longer to start on Wallace's system than IE is willing to wait before timing out. Wallace, remind me to chat with you about this one on Monday, too.
I think this is being handled with ome of the updates to slimtray, but I don't want to throw more into 6.5.2 so targetting 6.5.3 just to make sure we take a look :)
Have not seen this bug for couple of weeks now. The IE seems to open a little slower when the SlimServer desktop icon is double clicked. That is giving the SlimServer enough time to start. Did anyone actually fixed this?
Have not seen this bug for some time now. Tried again with SqueezeCenter 7.0a1, version 2008-01-07. Bug as written is no longer seen. Regressed the areas around and did not see any problem related to this either. Did anyone fix this? Marking as "VERIFIED".
Closing.
