Description Ron Watkins 2007-01-05 01:44:03 UTC
If I attempt to play the latest Gamers With Jobs podcast, at http://www.rabbitcave.com/gwjcc/GWJ_Conference_Call_01_03_07.mp3 (32 meg download), all output from the player stops. It will not play anything more until I unplug and replug it.

To reproduce:

Load the file into your music directory (duh)
Choose the file in Browse;
Hit Play twice. It may work with just one, but I was consistently doing two attempts. No sound will come out.
Go play any other file; the player seems to think it's playing, but sends no sound. Fool all you like. The only solution I found was unplugging it.

(note: I am connected via coax out, not using analog ports.)

This is using the latest 6.5.1 nightly.

Not sure whether to code this as 'minor' or 'normal', so I'll leave it normal.

I was able to reproduce the bug with Slimserver 6.5.1 on Win XP with SB3 and fw 71.

Note: Slimserver labels file as VBR while foobar labels file as CBR.

Hi,

I found another podcast that exhibits the same problem. It is called "The Bob Thurman Podcast", and you can find it at http://bobthurmanpodcast.com/ or in the iTunes Music Store. I've been using episode #29 for testing, but I think it happens with any episode.

Once I try to play the episode, I get no more output until I reboot by holding down the power button on the remote. I'm using the optical output. I have SlimServer 6.5.1 (release version, not a nightly build) on Windows XP SP2 and Squeezebox firmware 72.

This file seems to have similar encoding to the GWJ podcast-- (LAME 3.96/3.97, 22.050 kHz, 64 kbps).

This is another one that seems to be fixed with FW75.

Great, thanks for checking this Steven. Assigning to my list to keep track of the bug.

Steven have you verified this as fixed in firmware 75? This firmware is now released so this bug could be closed.
Comment 7 Spies Steven 2007-03-08 16:27:59 UTC
Richard, I am able to play this file with firmware 75 or higher. However I was under the impression that we should leave the bug open until 6.5.2 is official.

Fixed in 6.5.2, which is now released and available for download at http://www.slimdevices.com/su_downloads.html
