Bugzilla – Bug 461
discrete scrollPause for large font.
Last modified: 2009-09-08 09:18:52 UTC
Given the different font size, and differing overall length. A discrete scrollpause for use with large font might be useful.
try out the July 28 nightly build, let me know if that is what you are after.
Seems to work fine although I notice two oddities. First, regardless of the scroll delay, once it starts scrolling you get two 'blocks' of text scrolling by without pause then you get a pause of the selected duration on the third, etc. Second at zero delay you still get about a 0.1-0.2 second pause. With small text scrolling you do not see the former but I think you see a touch of the latter; although it seems to be more like 0.1 seconds or less.
yeah, I see those too. they are pauses due to leaving the animation routine and returning, and depend on how the given line fits into the 1s timings for client updates. I dont know if there is much that can be done about that.
seems I still ned to work on this. while displaying "now playing" it seems the settings don't work. the pause appears to be some fraction of the pause setting. This may be related to the doubling of large font scrolling between pauses.
How is this feature and the previous scroll rate one affected by the multiple font sizes now? Perhaps they have to be abandoned or just pick some fixed ratios based on the 'small' size setting? Alternately a table but that's getting really complicated for such a small improvement. You know perhaps ideally the scroll rate should have a button on the remote and behave like the size or brightness buttons. Of course there is no such button.
for the new graphics, the definition changes. 'small' is defined as fonts that use one line each. 'large' is any fonts that use two lines. two rate/pause settings is probably plenty. having continuously variable, and creating a dedicated button for this would be overkill - a wasteful distraction ;) (sure, its a shot, but it IS offered with humourous intent so I'm guessing you can take it :))
There are 536 bugs in the database with targets of '---' that were fixed prior to new year 2006. I am setting them to targets of 6.2.1 to keep them from showing up in my queries.
Routine bug db maintenance; removing old versions which cause confusion. I apologize for the inconvenience.
