Description Jim Johnson 2006-12-03 20:51:54 UTC
Going through some old radio station I haven't listed to in a long time I found these three URLs:
live365://www.live365.com/play/muppetcentral/
live365://www.live365.com/play/mistermouse/
live365://www.live365.com/play/crazyjt2/

When I try loading any one of them (via the web interface "Tune In URL" link, or via a stored "My Picks" shortcut, doesn't matter) it immediately stops the squeezebox from playing any music. I can't play other good radio stations. Even trying to play local MP3 files fails. The squeezebox isn't locked up, since I can still traverse its menus, it's just playing music that fails. The music simply won't start playing, it acts like it's paused (the track timer never increments). I tried loading an invalid URL once while a screensaver was active, and the screensaver stayed on the screen even though I could still browse through all the squeezebox menus. The only way to unfunkify the squeezebox (and get it to play music again) is to power cycle (the squeezebox hardware). Restarting the slimserver does not help.

Through trial and error I discovered that neither the "My Picks" plugin, or the "Tune in URL" link like "live365" type URLs. By simply changing the URLs to use "http" instead it these radio stations now work fine. The correct working urls are:
http://www.live365.com/stations/muppetcentral
http://www.live365.com/play/mistermouse/
http://www.live365.com/play/crazyjt2/

If you're not supposed to enter "live365" URLs manually, then you should at least do some sanity checking the input.

I forgot that to mention that I'm running Slimserver 6.5.1 from Dec 3rd (i.e. "SlimServer_6.5_v2006-12-03.exe") on WinXP sp2.

I don't know what was happening last night, but now changing the "live365" portion of the URL to "http" does not fix the problem. I have also discovered that most of my live365 radio URLs work ok. For example I never have a problem with "live365://www.live365.com/play/machali". I also discovered another live365 URL that always locks up my squeezebox, "live365://www.live365.com/play/compaxx/".

So the complete list of URLs I've found which force me to power cycle my squeezebox are:
live365://www.live365.com/play/muppetcentral/
live365://www.live365.com/play/mistermouse/
live365://www.live365.com/play/crazyjt2/
live365://www.live365.com/play/compaxx/

Does anyone else have this problem? Am I all alone?

This seems similar to my problem with the Jan 5th version of 6.5.1
Everything works fine until I tune into a Live365 channel. It seems that the first channel I tune into works ok but after this NO music will play on my SB3 in the way in which you describe. I too was power cycling the unit but have discovered that holding brightness will reload the firmware and restart the unit thus bringing the sound back.
I suspect our problems are related but cannot find any mention in the forum

I must also mention that maybe this is something to do with the firmware related to the latest 6.5.1 slimserver as I am affected if I listen via Slimserver OR Squeezenetwork.

When 6.5.0 was installed I had no troubles via Squeezenetwork but (like everybody else) Live365 wouldn't play through Slimserver.

This sounds like a duplicate of bug 4727. I'll post here when FW75 becomes available, and if someone could re-test that would be very helpful.

It's still losing sound output after listening to Muppet Central Radio on Live365 with firmware 75.

With FW76 all of these URLs seem to be working for me. Can anyone else confirm that this is really fixed?

live365://www.live365.com/play/muppetcentral/
live365://www.live365.com/play/mistermouse/
live365://www.live365.com/play/crazyjt2/
live365://www.live365.com/play/compaxx/

Steven, could you have a look for the 'Muppet Central Radio' Live365 station and give it a try?
Comment 9 Daryl Barber 2007-02-27 00:29:03 UTC
I can confirm that the problem no longer exists with Muppet Central Radio. Thanks

I tested all the stations mentioned in this bug against firmware 29 on the Transporter & 76 on the Squeezebox available with the 6.5.2 nightly and they all play fine for me now. Checking with Squeezenetwork now.

All work with Squeezenetwork for me as well.
Comment 12 Spies Steven 2007-03-28 10:35:59 UTC
Chris, should this bug still be open?
Comment 13 Jim Johnson 2007-03-28 21:28:27 UTC
This is fixed for me, so I don't care if it's closed. As the reporter of this bug am I supposed to close it, or is that left up to you slim guys?

Fixed in 6.5.2, which is now released and available for download at http://www.slimdevices.com/su_downloads.html
