Description astof 2006-11-11 10:23:45 UTC
I am running 2 squeezebox 3's. SlimServer Version: 6.5.0 - 9916 - Windows XP - EN - cp1252.
One squeezebox is wired, one is wireless. I've owned one of them since they first came out and recently added the second (wireless one). All of my songs are in the FLAC format. I have over 1000 albums. I've suddenly run into a problem where some (not all) songs are listed twice and play twice. Even when you open an album to view the songs within slimserver, some albums list every song twice. It would look like:

1. She Loves You from 20 Greatest Hits by Beatles
1. She Loves You from 20 Greatest Hits by Beatles
2. Love Me Do from 20 Greatest Hits by Beatles
2. Love Me Do from 20 Greatest Hits by Beatles
3. I Want To Hold Your Hand from 20 Greatest Hits by Beatles
3. I Want To Hold Your Hand from 20 Greatest Hits by Beatles
4. Can't Buy Me Love from 20 Greatest Hits by Beatles
4. Can't Buy Me Love from 20 Greatest Hits by Beatles

The weird thing about it is that it is doing this to albums which have been on my hard drive forever without previous problems. I would guess that it is doing this to about half of my albums. It is not a tagging issue. It's not a 'various artist' issue or any weird (:;"!?) symbol issue. I use Tag and Rename and keep everything as clean as possibe. I don't add 'Album Artist' or graphics. All my tunes are stored on 2 hard drives and this problem affects albums on both of them. I've rescanned, etc to no avail.

This is a pain in the @#% and I can't find a fix.

Please help

Thanks

Darryl

from the bugzilla main page:

Before You Begin

Before you file a new bug, please do the following:

   1. Try the latest stable nightly build of SlimServer and see if the bug is still there.
   2. Search existing bugs that are open OR resolved to see if your issue has already been noticed. Feel free to update bugs you find with additional information you think may be important.
   3. If you do file a bug, please include information from the Event Viewer or log files related to the issue so we can find and fix the problem quickly.

Surely if you get to step 2, you'l find that this report is much the same as others and should not have been filed. If you still feel it is different somehow, please make sure to add details of WHAT makes it different from every other open bug with "duplicate" in the summary.

Please help control the clutter.

Darryl, are you still experiencing this problem? I notice the original bug was filed against Slimserver 6.5.0. Have you had a chance to try the 6.5.1 release?

Subject: RE: Duplicate tracks

I was told that because one of my 3 hard drives was labeled as J: it
wouldn't be recognized in Windows and that may have been the problem. All I
did was create a subdirectory in on my J: drive called A: and dump
everything into it. Worked! I only wish someone can explain why J: isn't a
recognized drive. I just upgraded to 6.5.1 but haven't ran it yet.

Assuming j: is a mapped network or external drive, then windows cannot access this type of naming from services. The mapping is a user state, whereas services exist prior to the user environment. A search in the forums or faq for "mapped drives" should result in more details.

marking as resolved as the issue appears to have been dealt with.
