Bugzilla – Bug 4461
Various Artists link in basic Seach doesn't open page
Last modified: 2008-12-18 11:12:53 UTC
Clicking the link to 'Various Artists' after a basic search crashes the server. This was reported in the forums as occuring in 6.5.1, but I'm also seeing it in the trunk at r10536. Log to follow.

Dan's warned me that 7.0 is particularly unstable at the moment. I'll go back and look at this in more detail when he declares it's in a constructive state again. :)
This also exists in 6.5.1. I've changed the version in the report to reflect that.
This appears to have been fixed in both the 6.5.1 release and in the current 7.0 trunk.
I'm going to reopen this bug, and change the summary slightly. Whereas this was crashing SlimServer before, the behavior now (6.5.1, recent rev) is that it never opens the page. It just sits forever with an hourglass. The 'Various Artists' links under albums and tracks both work fine - it's the link under artist matches that fails. This is the url I see under artists: http://192.168.9.6/browsedb.html?hierarchy=contributor,album,track&level=1&contributor.id=561&contributor.role=ALL&player=...
Steven, could you have a look at this and see if it does the same thing for you?
Yes I see the same behavior. On the web interface Home -> Search Music Enter "Various Artists" then click on the search result "Various Artists" Notice how there is browser activity After a while the activity stops but nothing seems to have happened Advanced Search does not seem to exhibit this problem. SlimServer Version: 7.0a1 - 11363 - Windows XP - EN - cp1252 Server IP address: 192.168.1.104 Perl Version: 5.8.8 MSWin32-x86-multi-thread MySQL Version: 5.0.22-community-nt
Dan, I don't know if you're at the point yet where you are looking at 7.0 bugs. If not, just let us know and we will verify this one again at a later date.
This is in 6.5.1
May as well close this one again. It looks like a basic search for 'various artists' no longer works in either 6.5 or trunk. Don't know if that's another bug or if it even matters that much.
This bug is being closed since it was resolved for a version which is now released! Please download the new version of SqueezeCenter (formerly SlimServer) at http://www.slimdevices.com/su_downloads.html If you are still seeing this bug, please re-open it and we will consider it for a future release.
