Description Craig Garnett 2006-10-26 15:41:14 UTC
In MC2Slim I'm playing files through the CLI and have recently added functions whereby a right click on any compatible file type can be sent to Slimserver for playback. Most of these will already be in the Slim database but some are not.

A usesful enhancement for me would be the abilty to play these files without adding them to the database or a function that would allow me to delete them one by one.

I'm currently using 'songs count?' before and after playback to determine if a song has been added but I'm not able to do anthing about it at the moment.

Fred recomended me to file an enhancement request after a recent thread on the subject
http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=28783

Thanks
Craig

I'd also like to see a small variation on this theme where you could "play songs from a playlist .m3u file" without actually adding that playlist to the list of saved playlists. So just loading up the songs (those could be in the database though) into the "now playing" unnamed playlist.

Maybe this special playlist file should have a name like NowPlaying.m3u so that it wouldn't be saved in the database the next time you do a rescan... (or some parameter defined in the .m3u file) assuming it would reside in the playlists folder. Maybe this could be the trigger: if the playlist does not reside in the playlists folder, the songs get added to the "now playing" playlist but the playlist itself does not get added to the db.

Sorry, my mistake. I just realized I could do what I wanted already. Apologies...
