Bugzilla – Bug 4419
Live365 logs out when trying to access Preferred Acct. station
Last modified: 2009-09-08 09:27:14 UTC
(reference support tmid 11409) Customer is logged in to his preferred Live365 account. If he plays a Preferred acct. station via Slimserver web UI, like Winterscapes, it will play fine. Then using the remote if he selects and plays another non-preferred channel, when he tries to play the preferred channel again (with remote or UI) it fails to play saying "you must be a preferred member to play this station". If he logs out and logs back in he can play the preferred station again. I've tested this myself and varified, although it I got no error message. The station would just not play the second time around. (it would buffer forever)
had customer try logging into his Live365 account stations on SqueezeNetwork, thinking that would be at least a temporary solution. But, he's finding the exact same behavior on SqueezeNetwork as on Slimserver. Changing stations logs him out of his preferred account somehow.
Andy, any ideas what Dan could try to pin this down some more? Would some log info help?
I need a VIP account.
Dean, can Andy get a VIP account?
Guys, I'm teh customer who first logged this bug. My initial contact with Dan on your helpdesk was October 11th. It took quite a while before my bug was confirmed and logged to bugzilla. I have to tell you that I'm pretty frustrated that after 3 weeks I still see no evidence that anyone at your company seems to have a Live365 preferred member account to use to test your SW. How can you claim to support Live365 if it has never been tested? I first confirmed this bug running your SW using Slimserver on my PC. dan suggested a workaround of logging into Squeezenetwork and using Live365 on Squeezenetwork. When I did I confirmed the bug and the same inconvenient workaround works there so I suspect you reused some code with the same bug. Will someone please get a preferred account and start working on this?
Andy I have sent email with Live365 login info
I was able to reproduce a problem where Live365 send you to a loop saying there is a problem with your login session. I never got the "You must be a preferred member" error message though. After debugging this it seems like the problem is on Live365's end. Some of the time you'll get redirected to the wrong URL, for example: http://www.live365.com/play/winterscapes?sessionid=foo:bar Normally this redirects to a long URL that includes session info and other things: http://216.235.94.10:21114/play?membername=foo&session=bar&AuthType=AFL&sessionid=fooo%3Abar But once in a while their server will redirect to a URL like this: http://216.235.91.30:14804/play which is what causes the error stream to play. If you try again to play the station, the redirect will be correct. I have committed a change that may fix session problems on SqueezeNetwork caused by the plugin assuming all clients connected to a SlimServer share the same login session. But I don't think it will fix this issue.
Folks, I am the user who logged the original bug. I noted your comments below and agree that your change probably won't help. Here is the issue as I described it to Dan. I see much the same problem on both Slimserver and Squeezenetwork. I log into LIVE365. Both Squeezenetwork and Slimserver have my preferred member info plugged in. After logging in, I select a station in my presets and start listening. After a while, I change the station. On rare occasions I can chnage the station, soemtimes even multiple times can I change a station. But, ultimately, I change a station and get an audio message that tells me about all the wonderful benefits of no commercial interruptions if i become a Live365 preferred member. So essentially I am losing my prefered member login and being connected as a guest. It seems that if I go back to the LIVE365 main menu and logout and then back in I can then reconnect as a preferred member. But sometimes that doesn't even work. Right now, after repeatedly logging in and out ove rthe last 30 minutes while I tested this I can't log in period. Maybe something on teh Live365 side at this point. i don't know. So, teh key to finding this bug is changing stations. There are some Live365 stations only available to preferred members like "Winterscapes" so that is helpful in figuring out are you ina as preferred or guest. Hope this helps make this clear. Like I said, Slimserver and Squeezenetworks seem to have same issue. Could be some issues on Live365 side but my old D-LINK DSM320 could switch stations without this issue.
QA to test to see if this still happens in 7
There's no longer a concept of logging out.
