Bugzilla – Bug 4414
Server crashes at the end of a track - every time
Last modified: 2006-10-30 14:21:44 UTC
using build 9916 - when I play an album I can't play more than one track without having to restart the server. The server is doing a rescan in the background but this has not previously been a problem - I'm also playing using SoftSqueeze at the moment - but happens from the Squeezebox also. Please help - the server is unuseable - but I'm not sure whether to try 6.5.1 or go back to 6.2 - I thought that once 6.5 came out of beta it had been tested - this sort of bug seems amazing!
Have now reinstalled the server and deleted the previous install - losing all my settings and plugins - has solved problem - but not what I expected to do. I still think this should be dealt with as a bug.
Unfortuntely, most likely due to an obsolete plugin. As you have now deleted that, there is no way to get the required info for a fix. What plugins did you have installed? resetting target to undef as new bugs should not have preset targets until there has been a chance to review.
AlienBBC and SlimScrobbler - could you not make the system unload plugins unless they are marked as compatible with the release - this is what other products do. On the Plugins page you could identify the plugin as disabled as it is incompatible.
The plugin API is due for an overhaul for 7.0 see bug 4112 There is already a passive method for barring plugins from certain server versions, but it relies too much on the plugin being written to support it. Future api will be more strict about adhering to the requirements. I'll leave this open, but it should probably be marked resolved once Chris gets to it, as there are updated versions of both of those plugins that should allow you to operate safely. If you find that the troubles are coming back (especially if you haven't added the plugins yet), please make a note. If you wish to take part in the plugin api tracking, add your email to the cc list for bug 4112 or leave comments there. thanks.
