Description Jon 2006-10-17 13:29:02 UTC
On upgrading to SlimServer 6.5, new tracks lost their album art, so I installed 6.5.1 to see if that would help. My current version is repored as "SlimServer Version: 6.5.1 - 10377 - Windows XP - EN - cp1252".

I completely uninstalled the old version of SlimServer (including deleting the directory from Program Files) and then reinstalled from the .exe on the download page. I am now getting no album art showing for any tracks in either the default or 'touch' interfaces. All my album art is embeded into the MP3's, and mainly .jpg format.

All my MP3's have been tagged using iTunes. All other tags seem to be displaying OK.

Apologies if this is a duplicate bug - I've searched and found similar but not exactly the same!

Jon

server settings->debugging, turn on d_artwork. click on the link at the top to open a window to the log. Navigate to an album or song and see what the log says about looking up artwork. make sure you have dome a complete wipe and rescan. artwork is working very well, so this would appear to be an issue for support at the moment as there are still far too many possible problems that are not necessarily a problem with slimserver.

Apologies, another re-scan worked. I still have issues with newly tagged album art, but I think this is related to the way that iTunes now stores it, and there is already a bug for that. Thanks for your help

another customer with this issue...

(reference support tmid 11712)

from customer: "I am using Slimserver 6.5.0 for software on Windows XP Professional. I have a "cover.jpg" in each album folder. In the past, I could browse sorted by album cover and each individual album cover art was displayed in a large grid. In the last few weeks, however, it no longer displays the cover art, just a generic icon instead. When I select the album individually, the cover art shows up on screen no problem."

(from DE:) I recommended he turn on d_artwork and send us the log. He wrote in again. (I'll attach the log.)

from customer: "After I checked off d_artwork, I went to the main menu and then to €œAlbums€. My albums were in List view€ and I changed that to €œgallery view€. While in gallery view, I saw a grid of my albums and each grid contained a '?' (for album cover not found). I clicked on three albums (20 nights by Eric Clapton, How to Dismantle an Atomic Bomb by U2, and Quadrophenia by the Who). Each time no album cover was available in the gallery view, but it was visibile when I drilled down to each individual album. I then turned off d_artwork. I then did a rescan of my library, using 'Look for new and changed music'€. This Slimserver also has an error after each time it completes a scan of my library. A pop up box informed me that scanner.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience.€ I click OK to close the popup box. I can use my Slimserver then including new albums identified in the most recent scan.

I am running Windows XP Professional. I am using Slimserver 6.5.0. I tried several versions of 6.5.1 with the same difficulty. I have no additional pluggins (other than the default included with this build). I have McAfee Security Center running which includes a virus scan and spam blockers but no firewall; I have the default Windows XP firewall turned on. I use the Nokia 770 with the Nokia skin provided in the build, with the same results in gallery view as described above. "

This latest log is a case of bug 4474 cleaning up as a dupe. I'll take jon out of the cc list for 4474 as his issue was reported as fixed here
