With version 6.5.0, when I query a player's displaytype, "noritake-european" is returned instead of "graphic-something."  The hardware is Squeezebox 1.  This problem did not exist with the previous stable version of SlimServer.

is it a true squeezebox 1 with the character display or SB G with the graphics display?

I believe this is fixed in change 9921 which is in 6.5.1 but not 6.5.0.  Could you try 6.5.1?

Yes, this is the graphic Squeezebox 1.  And it seems to be fixed in the latest 6.5.1 nightly.  Thanks!
