It would be great if Softsqueeze could be run 'headless' (minized to the system tray), that it can be run on start up and Slimservers interface could be used as the 'player'.

softsqueeze is already able to run headless. please see the forum:

Yes, but you are stuck with a DOS box window open, which kind of defeats the object.

Download and install Softsqueeze from SourceForge. The package includes both normal and headless EXE versions of Softsqueeze. When you run the Windows installer it will create a program group containing shortcuts to each of them. The headless version will not run in a console window.

The only problem with downloading from the above site is that it doesn't always seem to be kept as current as the version bundled with SlimServer.

My suggestiont would be that the Softsqueeze page in the web interface be reworked a bit. First, keep the SourceForge downloads up to date. Then place links to the SourceForge downloads directly in the SlimServer web UI so that the Windows installer can easily be downloaded and installed by the user, instead of using the current method of using Java Web Start. Without such a link, most users won't realize that an installer is even available.

Unassigned bugs cannot have a priority.
