Bugzilla – Bug 4319
Better display of settings in one line mode
Last modified: 2010-05-07 10:20:07 UTC
This is on an SB3. In one line (large size) mode many of the settings are difficult or impossible to see. The crucial information either scrolls quickly or never shows up. Two examples. In syncronize players, you cannot see if you are pressing right to sync or to unsync. In player setting wireless signal strength, the actual strength is almost impossible to see. It sometimes eventually scrolls, but then disappears before it can be read. The solution probably involves some combination of terse headings, better scrolling, and possibly extra key presses to get the information content. Or of course some better idea. This is obviously not a high priority issue, but would be a nice improvement for those of us with the SB3 across the room from our chair.
scrolling too fast should be easily fixable. there is a player setting for scrollrate.
It's not scrolling too fast. The default scroll rate works just fine in now playing mode. Rather, what happens with signal strength is that the delay to start is way greater than 3.6 seconds and when it finally scrolls, almost as soon as the level appears the scroll resets to the beginning.
scroll should be continuous. "reset" sounds like something is wrong there.
i can see yoru point about sync settings. Most settings have the checkbox overlay so they should be ok. Large text scrolling is definately odd. I do also see the resets, which probably should be more "ticker"-like.
Scrolling will reset if the text being displayed changes - in this case probably the signal strenght is changing? How about putting the actual signal strength in the overlay? Not sure about the other cases. It would also be possible to force everything into a two line display for these screens.
Please don't force two line display. I can always press the size button to do that. The whole point is being able to do this from a distance. Today, I get up, move closer to the SB3, press the size button, and continue.
All new Squeezebox products are likely to be based on the SqueezePlay platform. We do not plan to implement any further enhancements to the ip3k firmware or which are targeted specifically at ip3k-based products.
