Description Steve Sheafor 2006-09-29 23:28:26 UTC
SlimServer has a nice feature which is to specify the leading articles (like "The") to ignore. However, the selection applies to both the Album and Artist. It seems better (and much more important, this is the way iTunes does it) to ignore the article in Artist names but not in Album names. For SlimServer, this would mean a separate selection for Artist and Album, or perhaps an "iTunes mode" checkbox which eliminates article ignoring for Albums (and perhaps forces the article list to only "The" like iTunes). It is very convenient for SlimServer to look as much like iTunes as possible.

The latest version of iTunes (7.3) now also ignores the article "A" in Album titles, so a pure "iTunes" mode may not work after all. Separate article selection for Artists and Albums still works in this case. This version of iTunes also sorts Albums and Artists starting with numbers AFTER the alphabetic ones, which is different from SlimServer and all earlier versions of iTunes (and a stupid change IMHO).
