Bugzilla – Bug 4258
WMA Lossless Volume Leveling
Last modified: 2009-06-09 14:05:23 UTC
Request support for WMA Lossless volume leveling tags within SlimServer. I play a large variety of tracks on a given playlist. Volume leveling is very important to this type of use. My files are currently WMA lossless and support for these volume leveling tags would be very helpful. Thanks, Kirk Klemme

FYI for engineering: I've scoured the internet and have yet to find out how Windows does normalization for WMAL files. Can't even find anything in mskb... The only place I found that even mentioned it was WMP's help files...

Since it seems harder then expected to handle wma levelling tags. What if we created the appropriate replaygain tags in our wma lossless files, could squeezecenter then use/pass them on when transcoding? DBPoweramp will create the appropriate replaygain tags in wma lossless files.
I'll try and add this to the new WMA scanner.
Andy, if the replaygain tags stored in wma lossless files get passed properly to the flac on transcode I wouldn't worry about the wma proprietary volume leveling information. replaygain tags are much easier to apply them the proprietary ones. I'll confirm if they do tonight when I get home.
Just confirmed it, RG tags working perfectly fine when transcoding. I say close this enhancement request and have anyone wanting levelling with WMA Lossless to just use RG tags. And thanks for your time Andy! Jeff
