Bugzilla – Bug 4244
Artist is the main folder name
Last modified: 2006-09-28 08:25:01 UTC
I have six albums (out of approximately 1600) which list the Artist as the name of the main music folder. In my Music Library songs are stored in one of two structures, all under the main folder MP3s: 1) Artist/Album/Song files 2) Artist/Song files The six erroneous albums report "MP3s" as the Artist, and the Artist as the Album name. As I would expect, all six failing cases are albums stored in structure 2). This did not occur with SlimServer 6.3.1 (I am currently running 6.5.1 - 10040). Since it seems like there is a problem with artwork (see my Bug 4243 thread), I re-added artwork to two of the six albums using iTunes (even though they already had artwork and this should not change anything). After I did a "Clear Library and Rescan", those two albums are now correct. Two of the remaining problems were single songs from albums (where the rest of the songs have the correct Artist and Album). These songs were unique in that the title started with the Track number, whereas none of the other tracks of those albums did. After changing this, a "Clear Library and Rescan" caused these two tracks to be correct. I suspect some iTunes operation altered the track title and also left them in some odd state (although they looked just like all the other tracks), and the update cleared the problem. I have left the other two albums unmodified, in case someone wants to see them. I believe chaging the artwork will fix them.
this is the result of the Guesstags feature, as the files in question are found by slimserver as having no tags. probably related to bug 4107 (fixed for tomorrow's build) or bug 4236. Please update when the nightly is available and let us know after a wipe and rescan.
I am now running 6.5.1 - 10078. There are no more cases where the Artist name is the folder name.
thanks! marking fixed.
