Description Matt Richards 2006-09-27 10:41:14 UTC
Unlike the normal Slimserver display, which says "this song from this album by this artist", the Rhapsody now playing list shows only the name of the song.
Comment 1 KDF 2006-09-27 11:28:04 UTC
This is normal for many remote sources, as the metadata is often limited.

Comment 2 Chris Owens 2006-09-27 11:59:43 UTC
Andy knows much more about that interface than I do.
Comment 3 Andy Grundman 2006-09-27 12:02:15 UTC
Yeah, we need album/artist metadata support for remote URLs, this is currently only supported for local tracks.

Further comment on this -- having been back briefly to 6.3, I can tell you that in that version, while playing songs from Rhapsody the artist name, at least, frequently (but not always!) came up on the playlist along with the track, which was nice. In whatever is current now, 6.5b3 I guess, the artist never shows up, so you just get a list of tracks. I can't help wondering why the artist was able to appear attached to the track names earlier, but not now. Or was it removed because the album could not be attached?

It's peculiar that you can navigate down by artist/album/track, yet when it starts playing SlimServer, which you used to do the navigation, can't know what the album and track were if it comes through Rhapsody. I assume that this is because you are looking for data directly from the track, but clearly the nav system knew . . . why not pass that info on, when the source does not provide it along with the track?

Going to change this to future... there is basically no reason to use Rhapsody via UPnP anymore now that we have Rhapsody Direct, which has proper metadata.
Comment 6 Matt Richards 2007-12-18 13:53:08 UTC
This probably should be status WONTFIX, right, since the Rhapsody UPnP access method has been superseded by the direct method?
Comment 7 Andy Grundman 2007-12-18 14:02:03 UTC
Yep, marking won't fix.
