Bugzilla – Bug 4196
Live365 search for a short string causes strange display
Last modified: 2009-07-31 10:13:58 UTC
On the player, go to Internet Radio -> LIve365 -> Search -> (non-localized string) -> Search then enter just "A". You are presented with a screen containing: LOADING... Empty If there's a minimum search length, it should force you to enter that much text before preceding. Even if a search result comes in empty the text should be: STATIONS MATCHING "A": No matches found This needs to get merged over to SN...
hrm. seems better for me using 7.0. I get an animated pushMode to "LOADING..." followed by a push to: LIVE365 STATIONS EMPTY the "EMPTY" is the standard text given from the INPUT.List mode used for the station list. If it helps, "EMPTY" is the same string on the second line when using Search->albums, etc for the local library and you get no results.
cc'ing Andy, who loves live365 bugs!
So I just tested searching for a single letter ('D') and it returns many results. Is this still a bug?
It definitely does it for "A" in 6.5.1, but as Andy says, not for "D". WTF? I see the same behavior in 7.0.
I'd chalk it up to a bug on the Live365 end.
Subject: Re: Live365 search for a short string causes strange display Does a 2 character search work ok? Can we limit the search to require at least two characters?
One character search should be disabled in live365, probably on the SN side, right andy? Two character searches seem to work for me.
That isn't supported and I don't think it should be. Live365 should fix their search engine (or we could implement searching via our database of Live365 station info).
I guess I'm suggesting that we just workaround the Live365 bug by returning nothing on a single character search to live365.
Always return nothing? But it does work fine for some cases, I think.
Re-targetting, but I'm not sure we should fix this.
Reduce number of active targets for SC
