commenting out a line in Slim/Schema.pm, mergeVariousArtistsAlbums gets around this.  It is around line 1131.

well, I know the fix...but I dont' know what might break because of it.  Dan felt that the line I want to remove was required to solve a different problem. The reason goes back to split-scanner branch, which isn't available from my end any longer.

It is.  However, you will need a full wipe and rescan in order to see the effects. if it is still a problem, attach a log of the scan using d_import and d_scan debugging switches.

What you will be looking for in the log is:

I suspect this is something different in this case.  I noticed your original screenshot was missing any album information whatsoever.  This bug covers, specifically those albums that get flagged with "no album".  Any album with no title should be assigned this, but for some reason your aren't.  This means they won't get processed by the changed made for this bug.  Hopefully the log will show what's gone wrong.

Shouldn't the fix for compilation albums (bug 4725) handle this case, even if the album doesn't get flagged with 'no album'?

hence, why I suspect something else is at work.

Lewis, do you have that log yet?  Are you using itunes or musicIP?  

closing this off again due to lack of info.  I suspect the blank item was really an aborted scan, but with no logs there is nothing to diagnose.  Any updated info can be posted on the forum or we can reopen this one at a later date.  otherwise, it's working for me.
