Description Daryle Tilroe 2004-06-28 11:00:03 UTC
I think it may have been around for a while but only recently started annoying
me. When you kill the squeezebox while it is playing (this is a typical
situation for me since it is hooked up to the switched AC out on my receiver and
I usually just turn everything off with the one power) the server does not seem
to time-out the play stream. The upshot of this is when you turn it back on the
song you were last listening to is still 'playing' but not really. The time
remaining/elapsed is the time the unit has been off and a stop and/or play is
required to get it back in sync. Also on the server the flac decoding process
just stays loaded and waiting the whole time.

I upped the priority and severity on this because with the new wma streaming in
5.4 it has further unpleasant side effects. wmadec, instead of just hanging
around like the flac process, appears to continue to stream and buffer. Today I
came back and discovered that after about 4 hours wmadec was using about 200 MB
of RAM after the squeezebox had been tuned off.

What OS is this running on?
Comment 3 Daryle Tilroe 2004-11-23 10:55:40 UTC
This is under XP Pro with the compliled version running as a service.

The right thing to do here is in the case that the player is disconnected for several minutes, stop
playing.

I've heard something about a mechanism very similar to this is used in
SqueezeNetwork to drop ghost clients. Perhaps this can be merged back into the
server code?
Comment 6 Blackketter Dean 2007-10-22 16:15:27 UTC
Squeezeboxes are dropped after they disconnect for a period of time now.

Routine bug db maintenance; removing old versions which cause confusion. I apologize for the inconvenience.
