Bugzilla – Bug 4159
second screen needs to be blank when prompting for software update on transporter
Last modified: 2008-12-18 11:11:39 UTC
Can you confirm that trunk r9923 does what you want - i.e this is only for the "press and hold brightness display". If it extends to the other upgrade displays which Andy added then need to understand how these are used [I'm not sure they are so relavent?]
Ping Dean
It's just for the press and hold brightness screen.
Fixed in 9923 and 10009 - please test and close.
This does not seem to be in place in last night's 6.5.1 nightly (10147). When the screen that says 'Software Update Press and hold BRIGHTNESS to begin' is on the left screen, the right one is still showing the last thing I had on that screen (vu meters at the moment). Do I misunderstand the bug? Thanks for any info!
Looks like there is more than one place which needs this change... I'll look at the other case!
Chris - please try 10158. I think this should fix the case when the server is running and a new firmware version becomes available.
Perhaps I am misunderstanding this bug in some important way. The steps I am following are these: 1) I'm running last night's nightly (10207). 2) I play some music and switch to a right-screen visualizer that I will be sure to notice, like the spectrograph, or the song title, or the vu meters. 3) I stop slimserver, since this is what happens when a user installs a new version, which I am considering the primary case where they see the firmware update screen. 4) I edit the transporter.version file with a new fw version. 5) When I restart slimserver, which ever right-screen visualizer that I previously selected is still visible on the right screen, in addition to the message on the left screen that says 'Software Update: Press and hold BRIGHTNESS to begin.' Dean please let me know if this is NOT the bug you meant to report, and triode please let me know if I am otherwise smoking crack!
Subject: Re: second screen needs to be blank when prompting for software update on transporter I mean that when the user is being prompted for a software update, the second screen should be completely blank.
No not smoking crack. Try 10232. It did blank the second screen text, but not the visualiser - should be working now ...
seemed ok to me for the latest update.
Totally awesome! I have verified it's fixed in 10266.
