I think richard mentioned this when doing the transparency updates.  OSX doesn't seem to support it in their java builds.

Actually, it works great with a transparent png for the icon in OSX,  
but windows gets confused.  A larger transparent gif looks acceptable  
on both platforms.  Will commit to trunk for 6.5.1.

Fixed in Softsqueeze 3.2 (available in svn r10221 (trunk) or r10222 (6.5.1).
