RPM installation on Fedora Core 5 broken.
Last modified: 2009-01-29 09:47:18 UTC
[root@localhost ~]# rpm -Uvh SlimServer_trunk_v.5b3.noarch.rpm Preparing... ########whatever####### [100%] useradd: cannot create directory /usr/local/slimserver 1: slimserver warning: user slimserver does not exist - using root chown: slimserver.slimserver invalid user Point your web browser to http://localhost.localdomain:9000/ to configure your server. ... # service slimserver status slimserver.pl is stopped ... I suspect bad useradd syntax--perhaps changed in FC5.
byproduct of selinux being disabled. set SELINUX= to disabled in /etc/sysconfig/selinux and reboot then the installer works OK.
Assigned to Fletch at his request per bug 5623
Matt/Fletch: How's this going?
This is fixed in the new SqueezeCenter RPM which works with SELinux. Technically, FC5 is now past EOL, but the new SC RPM has been tested with the current versions of Fedora. Please see http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=41217 and http://wiki.slimdevices.com/index.cgi?SqueezeCenterRPM for more information. Marking as FIXED.
This bug is being closed since it was resolved for a version which is now released! Please download the new version of SqueezeCenter (formerly SlimServer) at http://www.slimdevices.com/su_downloads.html If you are still seeing this bug, please re-open it and we will consider it for a future release.
