Description Graeme Harrison 2006-08-10 14:45:21 UTC
I use a SB2 as an alarm clock using a playlist of iTunes songs. I turn power off to silence the alarm but the power comes back on a few secoinds later. The only way to overcome this is to turn the alarm off in the menus but this takes extra time during which my wife wakes up and complains!

d_command logs?
Comment 2 Chris Owens 2006-08-10 15:20:38 UTC
I do the same thing every morning, although not with itunes. When you say you turn power off, I assume you are hitting the 'power' button on the remote control, not dealing with some power strip or something?
Comment 3 Chris Owens 2006-09-08 11:39:05 UTC
Any additional info Graeme?

Will take a look at this.

I can't duplicate this, and from looking at the code it should never happen. The timer that checks alarms gets reset to 60 seconds when the seconds = 0, and this is also when all alarms fire, so it should never happen that an alarm fires while the interval is still 1 second.

Please reopen this if you are continuing to have this problem, Graeme

I set my alarm clock to go off to a playlist in i-tune accessed through slimserver. Seemingly, the longer I keep with the same playlist, the more likely I am to have the problem which is that turning the power off to the SB2 only holds the alarm off for maybe 1 second and then the unit powers up and the music starts again. The only way to solve this is to go into the menus and manually to turn the alarm off.

Changing the playlist to a different one resolves the problem for anything from a day or so, to a few weeks, then it reappears.

I don't want to use the turning the alarm off way of stopping the music as the time taken to get to this function in the menus means that my wife will wake up to the music and will be annoyed.

If you can't replicate this bug, could you tell me if there is another one-button way of turning the alarm off.

Thanks
Graeme

Which version of SlimServer are you running?
Comment 9 Graeme Harrison 2006-09-08 18:47:33 UTC
I'll have to check which version of slimserver I'm using as I'm on business in Japan and the server computer is back at my house in Portland, OR. I'll get back to you in about a week, when I return home. I'm almost certain that I updated it very recently and I never use the beta releases - just the full ones.

Thanks for your help
Graeme

I would like to see if this can be reproduced in 6.5.
Comment 11 Chris Owens 2006-09-11 17:08:58 UTC
Ross could you have a look at reproducing this one as well?
Comment 12 Ross Levine 2006-09-12 17:04:04 UTC
OS X 10.4 SlimServer 6.5b2

I created a playlist with SlimServer, and set that as the alarm playlist. The alarm went off, then I hit the power button and it stopped immediatly, as it does for me on most mornings ;)

Then I figured maybe its iTunes related, so I created a playlist in iTunes and set that as the alarm playlist. BTW huge thanks to Chris for figuring out how I screwed up and wasted half a day. The alarm went off, I hit power, and the music stopped, exactly as I would anticipate it should.

In short, I am not able to reproduce this bug.

Graeme, please let us know what version of SlimServer you're using, and if theres something I may have missed and you'd like me to try another way to reproduce this, do share!

Graeme: if you can reproduce in the latest 6.5 version, please reopen with details. Thanks!
