Bugzilla – Bug 3864
Transporter audio testing
Last modified: 2008-08-12 11:11:43 UTC
I'm opening this bug as a general place for users to attach and upload snippets of content they are concerned may not play correctly on the Transporter product. Although the Transporter is already working well with in-house 24/96 content, some of the ways to rip music from DVD-A or other hi-fi sources are still somewhat immature, and I'd like to get a better look at what kind of files are out there in the real world. I may need to create new bugs for some files, and I may close this bug after we ship the Transporter. After that point, we'll probably want problematic files to have their own unique bugs to track them properly. Since the existing Squeezebox3 supports 48KHz and 24-bit playback, this bug should probably be limited to 24/96 content, or other forms of content ripped from hi-fi sources. The stranger the better. 5-20 second "snippets" of audio should be plenty, especially due to the large file sizes. Please test them in your usual playback software to make sure they work before uploading them. A brief description of the software and hardware you used to generate the files would be great. Also, please specify "binary file (application/octet-stream)" for the attachment Content Type, or Mozilla gets confused about the original file name and extension.
I too would be happy to help.
Closing this bug at this time. Future bugs about files not playing on the Transporter (or SB) should be filed separately from this one.
