Description John Matthews 2004-06-17 10:14:13 UTC
Wanted to share a drive on Windows 2000 Server(Computer B) with the Slimserver
on a Windows 2000Pro(Computer A) that is running as a service. Here is what I
did:
Computer B opened share directory completely with everyone given full
permissions, and also anonymous logon. Also opened security to both type
users. When trying to see the shares you still need to logon with at least one
character in the user field. Then mapping the drive in Computer A as G: I go
to Slimserver (as a service) and restart it. When I type in the G: drive it
can't see it. When I type in the UNC name \\MATT0060\Music it still can't see
it. If I shut off the service and just start up the server manually. And type
in G: or the UNC then it sees it.

When slimserver runs as a service it runs as the special SYSTEM user. That user may not have access to
shared volumes, depending on your setup. Check out this FAQ and let us know if it resolves your
problem: <http://www.slimdevices.com/su_faq.html#troubleshooting-sharedvolume>

Routine bug db maintenance; removing old versions which cause confusion. I apologize for the inconvenience.
