Description Randy Horman 2006-07-19 14:27:18 UTC
I just moved up from 6.2 to 6.3.0, and immediately see that the SB menu option for Recently Played has disappeared under Internet Radio -> SHOUTcast. This means that I know need to search the vast list of Shoutcast readio entries to find the 1 or 2 that I usually listen to. In any case, I assume this is a bug and that Recently Played was not intended to be removed. So would appreciate any help you can provide.

Thx!

The plugin was completely rewritten and this feature is no longer available. If you want to bookmark a station, you can add it to your favorites.

Eventually we plan to have a generic "Recently Played" feature that tracks what you've recently listened to from *all* sources, not just Shoutcast.

I was about to add this as a feature request but found this bug languishing on our dusty shelves. Can we get this evaluated for a future version? I think this would add value to SC!

Hi Dan, 'Monitor' is really intended for bugs that are active and we are adding to them day by day, but are not targeted for the next release.

If you feel strongly about this bug, I suggest you make your case in a comment, or to Dean, or in a bug meeting.

Frankly, it doesn't seem to have much interest. Do you have customers interested in this? Or is it just a pet project?
Comment 4 Dan Evans 2008-07-02 15:19:16 UTC
I can think of two customers who have complained/requested this feature in the recent past. I'm also finding in my own recent experience that this would be a useful feature. I'll lobby Dean and see if he thinks it would be a good add.

This has been on my list too, but I hadn't filed a bug...

I'd like to discuss this for inclusion in an upcoming release, possibly in conjunction with Ben's Recent Searches feature.
Comment 6 Chris Owens 2008-07-14 10:21:14 UTC
Andy and Alan note that there have been some recent changes with persistent data may make this easier.
Comment 7 Blackketter Dean 2008-08-16 13:49:06 UTC
Ben's added Recent Searches and it's very cool.

I think we should expand this to a "Recently" menu which contains:

Recent Searches - What Ben made

Recent Songs - the last N songs played on this player

Recent Albums - the last N albums played on this player

Recent Artists - the last N artists played on this player

Recent Playlists - the last N playlists (a playlist being either a saved playlist or the contents of the Now Playing playlist as it was when it was cleared via PLAY or a clear.

I'd set N to about 100 to start, possibly add an advanced setting to adjust this.

(The recent playlists was an idea that I came up with to help alleviate the problem where a NP playlist is accidentally cleared. Instead of some undo mechanism, there's a place you can go to see the previously created playlists...)

CC'ing Brandon as this may affect the "new schema"...

I was just wondering if the concept of "recently played" could be extended to "recently stopped". Me and my wife are using one squeeze box duet and when I'm listening to an audio book (one file >1h playtime) she can't listen to anything. With a "recently stopped" feature (same as bookmarks?) she could listen to music without worrying about where I was in the audio book, and I can start listening from where I stopped the last time. The "recently stopped" entry could have the name tag of the file and maybe the date in its name. It would need to save the current file position and would allow to resume from that position when the "recently stopped" entry gets loaded.

It should be noted: this feature will only make sense if it works with auto-switching (i.e. it should show items played from both mysb and sbs)
Comment 13 Chris Owens 2010-02-02 15:08:12 UTC
Matt Weldon doesn't work for us any more.

Unassigned bugs cannot have a priority.
