Description Mick 2006-07-14 03:50:37 UTC
Prior to FW58 the following settings worked on my system.

SB3 IP 192.168.2.10
SlimServer IP 192.168.2.3
Router IP 192.168.2.1
Def Gateway 192.168.2.1
DNS server 192.168.2.1 - strictly speaking not a dns server, but the router knows to pass any requests for hosts not on the network to it's default gateway or DNS IP's.

I'm not sure if the DNS setting is the issue. It doesn't seem to be. The SB with FW58 was unable to contact the Slimserver (even if I supplied it with the IP) if it was using a static IP. Going to DHCP fixed the issue, but I was worried I had a dead box. It was also unable to contact Squeezenetwork so I had no way of downgrading the FW until I changed to DHCP.

Wehn using the settings above from a factory reset on FW55, I get ask from a Slimserver IP and after a puse the SB connects.
If I then go back to the setup menu I see 2 Slimservers listed 192.168.2.3 and oreillymj-desk. If I pick the host name, the SB seems to figure out that it's the same machine and remove the 192.168.2.3 Slimserver entry from the menu and just leaves the host name entry.
Access to SqueezeNetwork also works with the DNS setting above.

Unfortunately I never got to test the change to the digital outputs as I spent so much time figuring out how to downgrade back to FW55.

I would concur - I had the same issues earlier and went back to FW55.

I was using static IP - wired connections were fine but wireless failed with FW58

I reset my SB2 to DHCP before upgrading again and it worked first time.

In firmware 58 static routes do not work on the wireless interface, but do work on the wired interface. This was caused as a side-effect of fixing Bug 2620.

This bug is fixed in firmware 59. It is currently undergoing internal testing. You will be notified again when it is made part of a nightly release.

Chris - you will also need to retest Bug 2620 on the wireless and wired interfaces.

This fix is now available in the 6.5 nightlies ONLY. FW59 will not work with Slimserver versions 6.3.x and below.

Please give it a try and let us know how it goes.
