1) set a lock code
2) connect to my local slimserver
3) try to change my sb2 settings
3) when asked for the lock code, type the wrong one
4) Do a factory reset

The SB will lock up with the string "Factory Reset..." on the screen.

I can reproduce this 100%.

Chris, I cannot reproduce this. How do you do the factory reset?

The old fashioned way :)  Unplugging the power supply connector on the back of the unit, holding down '+', plugging it back in.

hmm I will try it on some of my other squeezeboxen, too.

Somewhere along the line whatever circumstances were causing this seem to have gone.
