scanner.pl --musicmagic --wipe --progress --prefsfile=/etc/slimserver.conf.

files scan ok, 34% through musicmagic scan:

Hrm.. it doesn't crash for me.

What version of MMM?

Can you send the ~Cachedir/mmm-data.txt file?

Test data works fine for me.. obviously I turned readTags off, since I don't have the files.

yeah.  doesn't make much sense.  why would a create for _inknownGenre return an undef object? 
instinctively it seems that it shoudln't have anything to do with a specific track, but it is failing for me reliably.  I'm removing that flac file from the library and will continue with that.  it was only around for an old test anyway.
