Description Marc Auslander 2006-07-01 17:24:56 UTC
Fireware 55 is reporting much lower signal strenth than previous firmware - but nothing else has changed. Also, I see no performance problems, and net test shows similar throughput to previous firmware. Sb3, linksys wrt54g v2.

chris to follow up.

I tried using the internal router 'AYB' but didn't notice any difference between 48 and 59. Both firmware versions gave me 89%-92% consistently.

In bug 3694, Marc notes most of the time he gets approx 50%-60% signal strength.

I will try to come up with a network setup that gives me a lower signal strength to test with. There ought to be enough wireless networks in this place for me to find one suitable. :)

I used Rico's WGR614v5, which is on the other side of a heavy wall. With FW48 I got 36-41%, and with FW55 I got 38-41%.

Marc, what kind of wireless security are you using? I have a Linksys WRT54g v2, so maybe it's a matter of testing the same hardware.

I'm marking this as 'worksforme' for now. If anyone else notices this problem, please feel free to re-open the bug and I'm happy to look into it.
