Description Till Westmann 2006-06-18 17:01:25 UTC
It is not possible to connect to an AirPort Express Base Station (model A1084, Base Station Firmware V6.3) using WPA2 Personal encryption.
The Squeezebox finds the available networks, lets me choose the one I want, lets me choose the encryption and and lets me enter the password. After entering the password it tries to connect but it seems to time out (counting down from 30 to 0).

chris: can you reproduce?

Till,

Could you please try changing your WPA2 key to something really simple, like 123 or something like that, and see if it connects then? I attempted to reproduce this on our end, and I was unable to. I tried with firmware v6.2 & v6.3 on an Airport express base station A1084. Both times I was able to connect my SB3 to it without a hitch.

How far is the Squeezebox from the Airport? What channel are you broadcasting to? I think this might be better suited for our support team, have you tried contacting them at support@slimdevices.com?

I've changed the password from 13 ASCII characters to 8 digits and you are right, it works.
As I am totally sure that I entered the ASCII characters correctly (re-entered about 5 times), I'm wondering what the problem with the old password might be. The character were all within the 7 bit ASCII range, so that should be pretty unproblematic (I think). Is 13 the wrong number of characters?

Ross,

We should certainly be able to handle passwords longer than 8 characters. Did you follow up with Till? Is there a bug with longer WPA passwords?
