Bugzilla – Bug 3600
Artists of "no album" songs are listed in browse artists list

In version 6.3.0 - 8033 - Linux - DE - utf8 of slimserver (on Suse Linux 10.0) artists of songs which have no album tag set are shown in the browse artist list even if group compilations is set in the server options. At least in version 6.3.0 of May 8, 2006 this was not the case. With the new behaviour the browse artist list is cluttered up with artists which have only one song in the database. I would prefer the previous behaviour. Is the new behaviour a bug or on purpose?
If there is no album, what does "compilation" mean? Should all the songs marked as compilations but no album be grouped into a single virtual, nameless album?
As far as I see in previous version all song with no album tag were parts of a virtual album named "no album" and were treated as if an album "no album" existed. If this virtual album were marked as compilation the problem of cluttering the browse artists list would be solved. It would of course also be possible that "no album" songs are treated seperately and are never listed in the browse artists list, independently of the "group compilations" option. In previous versions of slimsever these songs were definitely not shown in the browse artists list although I did not set a compilation flag.
How was this made in the previous versions of slimserver? I can't remember if there the compilation flag was set for no album songs. But I am quite sure that the artists of no album songs were not listed in the browse artists list.
The compilation flag was not set for No Album albums. However, artists from No Album albums have always been listed.
