Bugzilla – Bug 3594
Library empty - have to browse EVERY album to add it
Last modified: 2008-09-15 14:39:24 UTC
I've just installed 6.5b1 from the Slim Debian repository using apt-get (deb http://debian.slimdevices.com stable main) Whatever I do, my library shows as empty. I've tried a full rescan, and also a scan for changed music only, but wit the same result. I can happily use the "browse music folder", and everything shows up perfectly. If I then choose to play an album from the music folder my library now says "Your music library contains 1 album with 18 songs by 1 artist". Play another album, and the count goes up to "2 albums". I have 700 albums, I'll be damned if I'm going to click each one just to add it to the library! This was working perfectly on Ubunty Breezy, as I used the "alien conversion" technique, to convert the 6.2.2 .RPM to a .DEB package. So, something's serious screwed, and I currently have an unworkable system. Time to go back to 6.2.2?????? Jim PS Slim SB3, latest firmware (54?)
yes. 6.5 is "unstable" please use 6.3 builds if this is going to cause you to blow a diode.
So...how do I install 6.3? I didn't choose 6.5b1, but that seems to be the only one available on Slim's apt-get repository, and they have classified it as "stable". Are there any notes available for installing 6.3 anywhere? Many thanks, Jim
Okay, I've pulled the plug on 6.5. IMHO it should *not* be in the deb http://debian.slimdevices.com stable main repository, as it's far from stable. I've built slim 6.3.0 from the tarball, and it's now working as expected.
jim, i sympathise with that fact that you have lost use of your music. however, I am a volunteer at this and will not be spending my time laying out step by step instructions in response to 'demands'. This info is available in the wiki and the forums, because others have found the same problems as yourself. In short, go to the slimdevices site, download the tar.gz and extract that whereever you like. then run Bin/build-perl-modules.pl. Other than that, I suggest that you contact support@slimdevices.com, or search the forum. This is a bug tracking tool; support is to be found elsewhere. As you have already started a thread on this same topic, hopefully a debian/ubuntu user will choose to help.
Well, I'm sorry if you see my REQUEST as a DEMAND, but you have very definitely misinterpreted me. Are you always so rude? Where have I indicated that I am going to blow a diode? And where have I DEMANDED a resolution? You chose to respond to my bug report, and my bug report still stands. At no time have I been agressive. You are quite clearly misunderstanding the situation. You chose to to respond to my message, I didn't ask you to. Yet to say things like "to cause you to blow a diode" and "...in response to 'demands'" are totally uncalled for. You are totally out of order. I shall now close unsubscribe from this bug. When I post a bug report, I like to think that responses from anyone (volunteers otherwise) will be constructive and helpful, not downright abusive. Your reponses have added nothing to this bug, other than to piss off an otherwise happy Slim customer. And that's me, not you.
Bug closed. The person who replied to my posting is clearly an unhelpful idiot who is out to pick a fight on a saturday night. Therefore there's no point in continuing this thread.
