Bugzilla – Bug 3557
Volume sometimes muted when increasing/decreasing volume
Last modified: 2008-09-15 14:39:24 UTC
I notice that sometimes when I am playing music and decide to increase or decrease the volume level, the first volume up/down keypress causes the volume to go to 0 (muted). I haven't found an exact sequence of events, but I believe it is time related or related to stopping/starting playback. ie. it doesn't always seem to happen. Quite often, if I stop playback, then press play and then press volume up, the volume is reset to 0, and then goes up to level 1. I can then increase the volume to the desired level. If I come back to the adjust the volume some time later (maybe a screensaver delay period?), the volume might reset to 0 again.
I've been seeing this too. as of r7994, the repro sequence for me is: 1. play something: it doesn't seem to matter if it's playlists, new music, albums; nor does it matter if you use the Web of player UI. 2. the volume button press has to be the *first thing* you do after starting playback. if you change tracks, alter the volume using the Web UI, or anything involving the player, the bug won't repro. I'm finding volume-up to be 100% consistent with this behavior; volume-down I'm less sure about, but still pretty consistent.
Please try svn 8032 or tomorrow's nightly & mark as fixed if this is resolved.
I may have had one more occurance (the first time after updating from SVN to get the fix). I went to Random Song Mix and pressed volume down before pressing play. This muted the volume. I don't believe my volume prior to that was 1 (but can't say for sure). Anyway, I haven't been able to recreate the problem at all, so I'm marking as fixed.
